Everyone at the Access Industry Forum (AIF) was deeply saddened to learn that Rodney Marage, General Manager and Company Secretary of IRATA, died on 2 February 2022.
Rodney will be fondly remembered as a champion for the work at height community and the rope access sector in particular. As part of the AIF, he made a significant contribution to advancing safety, good practice and competence, leaving the world much safer than he found it for all those who work at height.
Peter Bennett OBE, chair of the AIF, recalls Rod as a colleague and a lasting friend.
“Rod was a principled, driven man who always acted with integrity and honour. We had many interesting conversations about work at height and the governance of trade associations over the years and it was an inspiration to watch him transform IRATA into the global authority on rope access it is today.
Working all hours from dawn till dust, that was typical of Rod, a man whose tireless dedication will benefit IRATA, its members and the rope access community across the world for many years to come.”
We send our heartfelt condolences to Rodney’s family, friends, colleagues and everyone else who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be sorely missed by all at the Access Industry Forum.
IRATA has set up a book of remembrance for anyone wishing to share their sympathies. You may also like to make a donation to Ellenor Hospice, who supported and cared for Rodney and his family in his final days.
