Falls from height claimed the lives of 31 workers in Great Britain during 2025/26. While this represented an 11% reduction on the previous year, falls from height remained the leading cause of workplace fatalities, accounting for around one in four worker deaths.
Against this backdrop, FASET brought members and industry partners together for its AGM, Dinner & Celebration Evening on Thursday 24 September 2026 at Worsley Park Country Club in Manchester.
Representatives from across the safety netting and temporary safety systems industry came together to share their experiences, discuss the challenges facing the sector and help shape what FASET does next.
Tony Seddon, Managing Director of FASET, said: “Any reduction in workplace fatalities is welcome, but 31 people losing their lives following a fall from height is 31 too many. Our members are doing important work every day to prevent those tragedies. Bringing the industry together gives us the opportunity to share what is working, tackle the challenges we face and keep raising standards.
“That’s what we wanted this year’s AGM to be about: useful conversations, greater member involvement and looking at what we can do collectively to make working at height safer.”
Through accredited training, independent auditing, technical guidance and the promotion of best practice, FASET works to improve competence and raise standards across the sector.
More than 1,000 candidates are trained through FASET each year. The Association also provides industry with more than 100 free guidance documents and represents a network of over 65 independently audited member companies.
This year’s AGM placed a greater emphasis on participation, giving members the opportunity to contribute their knowledge and influence the Association’s priorities. It also looked ahead to FASET’s 25th anniversary in 2028 and the next chapter for the organisation and its membership.
The daytime programme was followed by FASET’s Dinner & Celebration Evening, with entertainment from comedian Harry Stachini. The event was supported by long-standing industry sponsors and partners including Nationwide Platforms, Sunbelt Rentals, IPAF, Leon de Oro, Huck Nets, Summit Platforms, Creator Designs and IRC.
