The AIF has entered into a strategic alliance with The Association for Project Safety (APS), the organisation that shapes and shares good practice in design and construction health and safety risk management. In particular, the APS plays a leading role in helping the industry to meet the many challenges of implementing CDM 2015 effectively and proportionately.
The aim of the relationship is to provide advice and assistance to each other’s organisation by recognising and benefiting for each other’s knowledge and skill base.
The AIF provides the following support in respect of working at height:
- A dedicated enquiry service to all APS registered members and practices;
- Information and resources for the APS website and APS publications;
- Expert speakers for APS conferences and seminars;
- Work at height training and guidance for APS members;
- Advice on the latest standards and regulations.
In return, the Association for Project Safety provides the AIF with advice and guidance on all matters relating to construction health and safety risk management.

The AIF is delighted to work alongside the Home Builders Federation (HBF) to shine the spotlight on height safety.
The HBF Health and Safety Committee subgroup identified the key areas for work at height safety improvement and, together with the AIF, have developed a range of solutions to reduce injuries within the home building and wider construction industry.
The AIF has worked with HBF to create the following free resources:
- A series of practical, informative work at height toolbox talks;
- A podcast series that looks at the toolbox topics and work at height areas, with expert guests to give real insight into how to reduce the risk of falls from height.
With over one million businesses and 10 million workers estimated to carry out work at height every year1, these toolbox talks and podcasts will ultimately help to improve the health, safety and wellbeing of everyone working in the construction and built environment.
